This project is mainly about design, analysis and simulation of mechanical reset mechanism for earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB). The motivation of this project is to develop a mechanical reset mechanism for ELCB in order to restore the power supply after the ELCB was tripped. A 3D computer aided design (CAD) model of the mechanical reset mechanism for the ELCB is prepared. Then, the design is analyzed using finite element (FE) tools in ALGOR software. Finally, the specifications of the design are finalized. The analyses highlight the critical components. Thus, material and components’ size have been modified until the optimum results are obtained. In summary, this project has successfully obtained the final design and specification which later on can be used to produce the initial prototype of the mechanical reset mechanism for ELCB.
