N2  - Construction industry grew so rapidly nowadays. Economic development becomes a catalyst in determining the increase in construction industry. During the Eighth Malaysia Plan, the government provides an allocation of RM110 billion for development projects the federal government. There are many contractor failed to win the tender and turn wound up. Money spent to purchase the tender documents is expensive. Contractors feel that they are being abandoned by client and assume that client have cronies in the tender selection process. But regulation is not consistent in producing quality contractors that are among several factors that render defective construction industry. Many projects have been categorized as problematic due to several factors that typically result from the contractor. In the selection of contractors, there are many aspects that need to be considered. Therefore, the objective of this study are to study major factors influencing client requirement in construction industry, to identify the client’s requirement factor on selecting contractor and to analyse the client’s requirements factor on selecting contractor. Average Index and Frequency Analysis will be used to analyze the data collected from the questionnaires and interviews. From the data analysis found that the most first important criteria is experience, second is current workload, third is working reputation, fourth is financial position, fifth is price bit, and finally relationship with client. Apart from that, based on this study are expected to issue a guideline to be fulfilled by contractor in order to win the bidding process easily
