Various studies have been conducted on different agriculture waste products to determine the effectiveness of their use as a partial replacement for cement in concrete. One such agriculture wastes product is palm oil fuel ash (POFA), which is produced by burning palm oil shell and husk as fuel in a palm oil mill boiler to generate electricity for the palm oil extraction process. POFA is a pozzolanic material that can be used as a partial cement replacement for producing concrete having enhanced strength and durability besides reducing the amount of this environmental friendly ash ending at landfill and reducing the cost of concrete. Although POFA has low pozzolanic property with large particles, it can be one of the effective agriculture waste ashes when its fineness increased through grinding process. In this study, the effect of POFA as partial cement replacement level on fresh properties and compressive strength on high strength concrete has been investigated. The POFA has been dried in oven and sieved through a 300 µm sieve. The ashes that passing through the 300 µm sieve were ground for 8 hours in the LA Abrasion test machine. For this research, four different volume percentage which are 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% of POFA as partial cement replacement has been used. Slump test and compacting factor test has been conducted to study the workability of the mixture. The compressive strength test has been carried out to determine the strength of the cubes (150 x 150 x 150mm) containing various percentage of POFA after subjected to water curing for 7 and 28 days. POFA concrete produced lower value of slump compared to slump of OPC concrete. Conclusively, the study shows that addition of POFA up to 20% as partial cement replacement enable to produce high strength concrete.
