Every industry requires water as a raw material to their process. Nowadays the source of freshwater are lack due to the increasing water scarcity in certain countries, many industries are exposed to the freshwater risk. For the future and onwards two third of the world population will face the water crisis or stress by year 2025. After 2025, the industrial rapidly growth up, hence the source water will be limited and indirectly the cost of water also increase. The main purpose of this study is to develop indirect inter-plant water network integration involving multiple contaminants. In order to achieved this objective, there are five major steps in this work which is limiting water data extraction, superstructure representative, developing mathematical formulation, applying the developed model in General Algebraic Modelling System (GAMS) software, and lastly minimum water target and design. This problem is formulated as linear programming (LP) and mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) based on water network superstructure and is implemented in (GAMS) in order to obtain simultaneous minimum water target and design of water networks. The effectiveness of the proposed model is illustrated by using an industrial case study. At the end of this study, significant reductions of freshwater consumption and waste water generation have been achieved, it show the effectiveness of the proposed approach and the illustrated water network design is presented. The results obtained give higher percentage reduction of the freshwater consumption and wastewater generation is 47.61% and 53.48% respectively.
