By reducing the non-value added activities in production line, the productivity and the efficiency can be improve, meanwhile the costs will be reduced. The aim of this study is to evaluate the non-value added activities exists in production line of motorcycle engine assembly process hence suggest some recommendations to reduce the evaluated waste in ways to improve the production line. This research had been conduct at HICOM-Yamaha Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. (HYMM), Shah Alam for motorcycle engine assembly of model 31D9. While conducting the research, a few methods had been justified for a better and accurate result. The time study method had being used to take the cycle time of the overall process in assemble the 31D9 model engine. Also, a few types of statistical process control chart had being used to analyse the data taken at HYMM. From the research that had been done, there was a station that the average cycle time is out-of-control which is the Station 16 with the average of 36.54 seconds, 5.46 seconds below the actual target. It is also being found that the longest cycle time was at Station 31 with 45.6 seconds, 3.66 seconds exceeding the actual target cycle time. The best improvement that can be suggested is reducing the length of the workstation in which will resulted in decreasing of cycle time that can increase the productivity and the efficiency.
