N2  - Wastewater is water that has been spend or used and can be polluted. This wastewater usually comes from toilets, sinks and bathroom. There are many types of wastewater such as domestic, industrial, storm water and urban runoff. Wastewater characteristics can be divided into three major categories which are physical, chemical and biological. The primary objective of this study are to determine physical biological, and chemical characteristic of wastewater produced by UMP and to determine whether the water quality in the lake used for canoeing is safe for the recreational area. Seven parameter experiments has been done to determine the quality of effluent which are biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solid (SS), oil and grease, pH, total coliform (TC) and E. Coli. From the experiment, the reading of BOD, COD, SS, TC, oil and grease, and E. Coli are within the as stated in figure 4.5, 4.6,4.7, 4.8, 4.9, 4.10, and 4.11. Based on the results, the water quality is according to the standard stated in the Interim National Water Quality Index (INQWS) as stated in appendix A and the condition of the water in the stream and in the lake are mild polluted and fall into class II. This shows that the water in the lake is safe for recreational used. -Author
