Infiltration is the process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil. Infiltration rate is a measure of the rate at which a particular soil is able to absorb rainfall or irrigation. The unit used to measure the infiltration rate is mm/hour. The rate will be decreased when the soil becomes saturated. The location that has been selected as the study area is Bukit Rangin. Kuantan. In order to get the infiltration rate. three main locations in Bukit Rangin have been selected. Location A is a playground field located in the middle of the housing area. location B is a field near to the main water tank and location C is the field situated opposite to the school. Double Ring Infiltrometer is used for the purpose. In all the three locations; Location A. Band C • three points have been chosen as an experimental point and for each point. the distance is in between 5m-lOm from each other. The infiltration calculation method used in this experiment is Horton's Equation. The infiltration rate at Bukit Rangin is low because the soil is too swarming and compressed. It is proven as all the results obtained from the measurement are the fc value that is below than 13mmJhour. The analysis indicated that the location A is suitable to build runoff quantity facility because the measurement and size of the location is wide. According to Manual Saliran Mesra Alam Malaysia (MASMA). Location A is suitable and apposite to build detention pond in order to control urban runoff quantity as it has low infiltration rate. -Author
