N2  - Sedimentation has been a common problem occurred in a navigation channel faced by the port authority. This problem can leads to environmental and socio¬economic impacts. It can be solved by carrying out maintenance dredging but it will be a financial burden due to the high cost involved. The objective of this study is to ascertain the root of sedimentation problems. Therefore, samplings were taken during low and high tides at two particular days to find out the differences. The analytical methods of fmding the sediment properties were done based on Gradation Curve, Hydrometer, Water Quality and Velocity, by using the Lower Reach of Sungai Kuantan as a case study. As a result, prediction of sediment formation processes can be produce based on the analytical method. Hence, further research and study should be conducted by Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Kuantan in order to maintain the existing channel geometry and as a reference for sedimentation problems that might occur at the estuary of Sungai Kuantan. -Author
