<subfield code="a">Lean methodology has been used vastly by many manufacturers to improve productivity, produce the right products or services at the right place and meet customer demand on time. In order to survive in today’s competitive and challenging world, manufacturers need to optimize the utilization of lean tools to reduce the manufacturing lead times which can lead to productivity and operating principles improvement. Improvement on the productivity performance becomes the ultimate goal for almost all manufacturing companies nowadays by reducing the production lead time and production waste. The aim of this study is to implement Value Stream mapping technique which is one of the lean tools to improve the productivity in SME Company at the same time reduces the manufacturing lead time and non-value added activities. A current state value stream is mapped to illustrate the material and information flow of PCB production line to analyze value added and non-value added activities. SMT line and Insertion processes are identified as bottleneck processes where the cycle time is higher than the measured takt time which required improvement. As such Line Balancing and Smed lean tools are implemented on both these processes respectively to minimize the cycle time by eliminating the hidden wastes. A future state value stream is then mapped to develop a lean process flow through the elimination of wastes and process improvements. As a conclusion, this paper proves that Value Stream Mapping is an effective tool which can help to identify wasteful activities and processes and serve as an input for continuous improvement by reducing the manufacturing lead time.</subfield>
