N2  - In Malaysia, most of rural areas have their own wells as water resources for drinking water and their daily activities. Ground water may contain some natural impurities or contaminants, even with no human activity or pollution. Natural contaminants can come from many conditions in the watershed or in the ground. Water moving through underground rocks and soils may pick up heavy metal substance such as copper, iron, cadmium and lead. The objective for this study are to determine the physical characteristic of water quality and determine the biological characteristic for water quality in aboriginal community at rural area.To achieve the objective, Kampung Simpai, Mukim Bebar, Pekan, Pahang was selected as the study area for this research. The samples are collected from the water well at the study area. The water parameters that has been monitored are copper, iron, cadmium, lead and total coliform and faecal coliform. The experiment that has been conducted is based on Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Wastewater 1998. From the analysis at chapter four, most of parameters are recorded to be over than standard that have been use for comparison purpose. For instance, the parameters like Total coliform, E-coli and Lead(Plumbum) recorded that all of the results from sampling point Tl till sampling point T9 are over than the acceptable value. For the Iron value, all of the sampling point recorded the results below the acceptable value except the sampling point T5 which is O.393mg/l and sampling point T8 which is 0.486mg/l. For the Cadmium value, all of the sampling point recorded the results below the acceptable value except sampling point T2 which is O.0037mg/l and T9 which is O.0038mg/l. Only one of the parameter recorded all the value below the acceptable value for all sampling point which is parameters copper. From the experiment and test that has been conducted, the water at the rural area is not safe to drink cause of their high contamination of heavy metal and microbiological parameters. The rural area need the water filtration system to make sure the aboriginal people can get safe water drinking for their daily life. -Author
