One of the method to reduce solid waste is by recycling of waste material. In this research, coconut has been used to partially replace fine aggregates of concrete. The aim of this research is to determine the durability of the concrete after partially replace fine aggregates with coconut shell powder. The experimental works conducted are slump test, compressive strength test, water absorption test, effective porosity test, and density test. In this research, coconut shell powder has been purchase from Sekendi Resource Sdn Bhd and is use to partially replace the fine aggregates by 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. The compressive strength test is conducted on 100mm x 100mm x 100mm concrete cubes at the curing age of 1, 7, 28, and 60 days. Water absorption test is conducted to determine the permeability of the concrete to water at initial stage and also at constant stage where the concrete has absorb maximum amount of water. Water absorption, effective porosity, and density test are conducted when the concrete samples have reach the age of 7, 28, and 60 days. The result from compressive strength test shows that concrete with 0% of coconut shell replacement has the highest compressive strength. On the other hand, for initial water absorption test, conventional concrete is the fastest to reach constant rate of water absorption follow by 10%, 20%, and 30% of coconut shell replacement. Experimental data from effective porosity test shows that the effective porosity of the concrete will increase when the partial replacement by coconut shell powder increases and decreases as the curing age of the concrete increases. Density test on the hand decreases as the partial replacement by coconut shell increases. Concrete with 30% partial replacement has the lowest reading at 60 days.
