Friction stir processing (FSP) is an alternative way to produce the surface composites of aluminium alloy in order to modify the microstructure and improve the mechanical properties of the aluminium alloy plate. In this experiment, Al6061 has been chosen to be used as a plate for the FSP. Al6061 has a potential material for advances application but it has low wear resistance. While, the reinforced used is rice husk ash (RHA) in order to produce surface composites to improve the distribution of particles and also increase the microhardness of the plate. The Al6061 has been stir with the 5% of RHA and 0% of RHA at three different tool rotational speeds of 800 rpm, 1000 rpm and 1200 rpm. After running the FSP, the result in the distribution of particles and the microhardness of the FSP occur has been identified. Result shows that Al6061 plate with the existing 5% of RHA reinforced at the highest of tool rotational speeds of 1200rpm in the surface area shows the better the distribution of particles and the higher the result in average of microhardness with 80Hv.
