Azolla filiculoides has a very rapid growth development. Besides, the biomass yield and productivity of A.filiculoides are very high and the doubling time of the A.filiculoides is very fast, which in 7 days. Other than that, the minerals content of A.filiculoides successfully profiled. The highest mineral content in A.filiculoides is Potassium (8627 mg/L), followed by Magnesium (3798 mg/L), Calcium (2023 mg/L), Iron (299) and Copper (13 mg/L). Phytoremediation is one of the plant based technology, defined as the use of green plants to remove pollutants from the environment. The cleaning of soil and water contaminated with toxic metals by using metal-accumulating plants is the most rapidly developing component of this environmentally friendly and cost- effective technology Phytoremediation can save cost and bioremediation arises as a well-known cleanup technology for contaminated soils, groundwater, and wastewater. In this study, the concentration of heavy metals (Cu, Fe, Zn) accumulated by A.filiculoides is analyzed by using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometer and observing its effects to the plants. A. filiculoides is suggested as a best candidate for good accumulator plant for phytoremediation. The effects of heavy metals on growth of A.filiculoides are studied. The growth rate of A.filiculoides depends on the types of heavy metals elements and its concentration. The uptakes efficiency of heavy metals by A.filiculoides is determined. A.filiculoideshas has the highest efficiency to uptakes Nickel which is 1131.4 mg/kg, and then followed by Zinc with 276 mg/kg and Lead only 99 mg/kg. Heavy metals either can gives negative or positive impacts to the plants. This is because; in high metal concentrations it can cause toxics to the plants. But, in low metals concentration (in range) it can act as nutrients for the plants and can help in the growth of the plants.
