Water is the most important element in daily life. It covers nearly 70 % of Earth's surface. Even water covers 70 % of earth's surface, quality of water for is very important especially for domestic used. In Malaysia, water can be found from various resources whether naturally or man made. Although, there are many water sources, but uncontaminated water supply for Malaysia community is still limited. Alternative water sources such as groundwater is become clean water supply sources that become more important for human today. Water crisis that always happen in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) did bring to search other alternative water sources. The objective of this project is to determine the groundwater quality in UMP and to find alternative of water supply that safe to be use by UMP community. The scope of study will involve five different groundwater sampling points that had been selected to be tested. These sampling points located in block W area. All samples will be tested by using laboratory test. Method use is Standard Method for Water and Wastewater 2002. Water sample is bring into laboratory and is test by using parameters that consist of turbidity, pH, Dissolve Oxygen (DO), Biological oxygen demand (BOD), Chemical oxygen demand (COD), Lead (Pb), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu), Nickel (Ni), Cadmium (Cd) and Chromium. From the study conducted, it is found that most parameters are within standard which is decided by W orid Health Organization (WHO) and Malaysia except for several parameters which are turbidity with 21.75 NTU, lead with 0.037 mgIL, cadmium with 0.025 mgIL and chromium with 0.078 mg/L. However, only sample taken from water tank give high value of turbidity which is 21.75 NTU while sample taken from direct groundwater is 6.05 NTU approximately to the standard decided. Because of UMP campus is industrial area, occurrence of lead, cadmium and chromium with high value is not impossible. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that groundwater in UMP is clean and suitable to be used in daily life except as drinking water. The water must be treat before can be drink. -Author
