<subfield code="a">One of the vital components of the effective green growth and sustainable future is water. According to Dr Rahmah Elfithri (2012) due to the increasing pressure, the world freshwater resources have become subjected. The increasing pressure of water resources is from the economic activity, population growth and intense struggling among the water user. The access to clean water is one of the rights and basic needs that every human deserves. It is most likely justified the people’s health and dignified life. Rainwater harvesting systems are unique in their ability to provide the benefits of acting as an alternative water supply sources and as detention or retention of roof runoff that would otherwise become storm water runoff. The demands of water supply in Malaysia is high either in speedy growth in the urban area or in the rural area where treated water is exceedingly tough to get. As the population increased, the demand for water is also multiplied. The pollution rise accordingly and depletes the available water. Due to the water shortages and the overflows of water treatment plant wastewater, the availability of clean water is decreasing. Unfortunately the indigenous communities whom lived far out from the development still used the untreated water until recently. The financial limitations of the poor who live in rural area always search the alternative be aggravated with the worldwide warming and climate modification. However, there are less uncontaminated water supplies available with the increasing population and the increase water use. It is now commonplace that water must be treated prior to consumption. The main objectives of this research is to identify the effectiveness of rainwater harvesting using WASRA system as an alternative water supply , while the sub-objectives is to determine the quality of rainwater harvested from WASRA system and comply with Interim National Water Quality Standard (INWQS). The parameters tested are hardness, turbidity, pH, E-coli, total coliforms, color, iron, manganese, aluminium, total suspended solid (TSS) and total dissolved solid (TDS). The parameters tested are referred to Standard Method For The Examination of Water and Wastewater by American Public Health Associate (APHA, 2005). Data analysis are performed using SPSS Statistics and the result showed that there are significance differences between untreated and treated rainwater. It showed that all the water quality of rainwater supply from WASRA system is complied with INWQS. All water quality parameters are found to be in Class I and II. Thus , the treated rainwater harvesting using WASRA system is suitable for daily use</subfield>
