Clean and safe water supply is verystringentas thepopulationin this world are keptgrowingas theyearspast. There are many approaches to assemble this safe and clean water for daily general purposes that might encompass a chemical reaction during the treatment. But most of the systems involve loads procedures and surely very pricey. Recent study has appointed that natural plant water filtration system is one of a new method that is easily filtrate water at the river explicitly without adding any chemicals. The main objectives of this study are to identify the sanitation status in rural area at Kampung Salang, Tioman Island and to investigate the effectiveness of Hibiscus Cannabinus L(Kenaf) as a natural plant water filter for the wastewater treatment. Regarding to this research, kenaf fibre has been chosen as the filter media.Smart Trapped Filtration (STF) systems are particularly well meet to fit in providing better quality of water compared to withdrawal directly from the surface water. STF systems is reliable can clear away microbial pathogens, organic contaminants, hormones, endocrine disruptors, turbidity, and other substances. The effectiveness might be varying because the efficiency of the system leanson the thickness of the kenaf fibre as the filtration media. So,the alterationis requiredin achieving reasonable treatment ability from time to time. In this study, wastewater sample that caused by the improper sanitation management is from Sungai Salang, Kampung Salang, Tioman Island, Pahang was considered and the effectiveness of using kenaf fibre as the natural plant water filter in improving the quality and appearance of water sample been investigated. Several tests, namely adsorption test and filtration test was conductedin the laboratory to determine the effectiveness of the material as filtration media. There are eight (8) parameters that been considered are biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solid (TDS), totalsuspended solid (TSS), turbidity, color, pH and total coli form. Result had indicated that the kenaf fibre is the effective enough as filtration medium to produce better water quality ER -
