This is because most design tools define that the spring is a general part of the system or the other design parameters are possible to be altered to accommodate the chosen spring. The purpose of this study is to look into the fundamental issues regarding side load spring design and develop a new, easy to use design tool that would allow for optimal and flexible design process. The chosen solution is to develop the design algorithm model for the side load spring application through parametric modelling which consist of spring diameter, spring pitch and spring centre line. Those specified parameters generate side load spring model through coordinate transformation approach. The program is designed by iterating most of the mathematical aspects of the side load spring model then looping to the finite element analysis. The side load spring model generated are verified by experimental approach. From the result, it is found that the spring axis centre offset parameter is significantly contribute to the force line of side load spring at curb vehicle weight condition with 1.13% difference. The spring force of the side load spring at curb vehicle weight condition simulated was difference at 0.15%. For spring stiffness, the result indicated 2.21% different. The design tool program was successfully developed in designing the side-load spring which found to have a spring performance within the allowable tolerances and allowing the designers to make faster and precise decision ER -
