520 3 _aAspen Plus has been widely applied for process modelling and simulation. The Steam-Methane Reforming (SMR) pathway accounts for most of the global hydrogen generation, although it emits considerable amounts of CO2 and generates surplus process heat. The elimination of CO2 from hydrogen production has recently become a global issue. The absorber unit is critical to this simulation study because it extracts carbon dioxide (CO2) from the syngas produced during the reforming process. We used RadFrac to precisely simulate the absorber, taking into account mass and energy balances, phase equilibria, and chemical processes. During the simulation, the performance of two solvents: MEA (Monoethanolamine) and DIPA had been compared. Despite DIPA's greater Hydrogen production efficiency in the absorber compared to MEA, we ultimately chose MEA. This decision was motivated by worries about the long-term corrosive effects of DIPA on our reactor system. While DIPA provided superior CO2 collecting capabilities, its corrosivity posed a severe risk to reactor's integrity and longevity. MEA, on the other hand, provided a more sustainable and manageable solution for operating demands, even if it was possibly less efficient in terms of CO2 collecting. As a result, after thorough analysis of both performance and practical problems, it has been found that MEA is the best solvent for use in the absorber unit.
