| 520 | 3 | _aWound healing is a complex process, requiring advanced dressings that promote tissue repair, maintain moisture, and prevent infection. Traditional wound dressings such as gauze or bandages usually do not embody these necessary properties and fail to create an optimal environment for healing. To address these challenges, this study focuses on developing bacterial cellulose (BC) films prepared from purified nata de coco, integrated with polyethylene glycol (PEG for wound healing applications. BC films were produced by purifying nata de coco through alkaline treatment, bleaching, blending, and drying. BC-PEG films were prepared by soaking dried BC films in varying concentrations of PEG solutions to enhance water absorption. The films were evaluated for water absorption properties by comparing the wet and dry weight of the pellicle after 24 hours. Result shows that 50% PEG concentration provided the highest water absorption. Functional group analysis through FTIR and morphological characterization through FESEM confirmed the successful integration of the additives, enhancing BC's suitability for wound dressing applications. | |
