520 3 _aHarvested rainwater is the main source of water supply either for non-potable use or for potable purpose in the old days. This is because the system is simple to be installed and cheaper. However this system is very dependent on the amount of rainfall received. Therefore the study on the performance of the rainwater harvesting system at JPS Raub was conducted. To determine the performances of the system the volume of rainfall received, the volume of rainwater that can be collected by the system, and the volume of usage of the harvested rainwater are investigated. Other than that, the quality of the harvested rainwater also has been determined in order to make sure that the harvested rainwater is safe to be used as a non-potable source. The main components of the system consist of catchment area, conveyance system, and the storage tank. The performance of the system was determined by obtaining rainfall data, water level in water tank data, and the harvested rainwater usage data by installing the equipments such as rain gauge, level logger and water meter. From the result of this study, the rainwater harvesting system in JPS Rub is sufficient to supply water and also reliable as a source of non-potable water. The result of this study shows that the usage of harvested rainwater is higher than the usage of Jabatan Bekalan Air water which make conclusion that the building is mainly using the harvested rainwater for toilet flushing, plant watering, and vehicle washing where the percentage of its usage are 91%, 5%, and 4% respectively. Furthermore, the harvested rainwater quality is within the range that allowed by the Malaysia water quality standard by considering the parameters such as pH value, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Suspended Solids, Turbidity, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Lead, and E-Coli in water quality determination. Base on the harvested rainwater quality result obtained in this study, the harvested rainwater collected by the system is safe and suitable to be used for any activities that involving human skin contact to the water.
