| 520 | 3 | _aAcetic acid is one of the potential products in industries due to it uses. There are two ways in the production of acetic acid that is by using synthetic method or fermentation method. Nypa Fruticans have been discovered as one of the potential raw material in the production of acetic acid. Due to production cost, fermentation method is preferable. But in normal condition it takes 40 days for the fermentation of Nypa Fruticans before acetic acid is produced. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the time length of production acetic acid from Nypa fruticans by using Acetobacter by manipulating certain condition such as pH, temperature and concentration of Nypa Fruticans’s sap. First of all, Nypa Fruticans is fermented by using Acetobacter for 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 days to know which days the production of acetic acid is highest. Then the Nypa fruticans is put under manipulate condition such as different pH, different temperature and different Nypa Fruticans’s sap to know at which point for each manipulation variable is the highest of acetic acid production. The concentration of of acetic acid is determined by using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy at wavelength 204 nm. For different temperature, the acetic acid concentration is highest at 30°C with the concentration of acetic acid 4.3 M, while for different pH, the acetic acid concentration is highest at pH 6 with the concentration of acetic acid 4.7 M and lastly for different concentration of Nypa Fruticans the acetic acid concentration is highest at 4 (%)(v/v) with the concentration of acetic acid is 4.0 M. | |
