520 3 _aThis study examines the optimum size of the footing for a single storey bungalow using comparative design analysis using Esteem Plus and BS8110. The site of the study is located at Lot 26437, Lorong Karyawan 20, Taman Guru, Mukim Kuala Kuantan, Batu 5, Jalan Kuantan Gambang, Kuantan Pahang Darul Makmur. The study starts with the soil investigation using Proving Ring Test as to the in-situ soil bearing capacity. Proving Ring Test is been done to get the bearing capacity value from the construction ground at 15 different points and the average value of bearing capacity of the soil is calculated to be 647kN/m2• Having this information, the determination of the reinforcement bars using Esteem Plus is carried out followed by the determination of the size of the pad footing. Taking the size of reinforcement bars of T12 from the Esteem Plus analysis, three sizes of reinforcement bars are designed at T12, TI0 and T16 based on BS8110. Using unit price obtained from Public Work Department (PWD), the study come up with the optimum design of the footing for the project. The economical price for all the pad footing main reinforcement is design by using 1 T16 at price is about RMI78.68. Finally the study comes out with the pad footing detailing. This house is consist 49 of pad footing for it main structure that will be cost about RM590.41 for the main reinforcement plus the concrete excluding the labor cost.-Author
