520 3 _aNowadays, the number of people in this world is growing exponentially. The amount of garbage and waste also rises because of this scenario. Thus, the waste and garbage management has become an issue. Waste management must be strengthened to ensure that the full bin can be collected at the correct time and there will be no unnecessary waste near or outside the bin. For this reason, we came out with our project that is efficient and low cost waste management system which is SGreen Bin (SGBin) for a Smart City that is using the most updated technology, Internet of Things (IoT) and Long Range Radio (LoRa). The purpose of this project is to present a smart and solar-powered multi-sensing system for locating bins, detecting waste-bin levels, and surrounding conditions by utilizing the LoRa/GPS shield paired with an Arduino Uno R3, sensors and LoraWAN gateway. There are four types of sensor that is used in this SGBin which are HC-SRO4 ultrasonic sensor as a garbage level sensor in the smart bin that will alert the user through TTN Platform, Infrared(IR) sensor for the function of auto lid, DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor and flame sensor to monitor the surrounding temperature and avoid fire. Solar panel and battery are used as a power supply for the designed smart bin for normal operation of the hardware inside the system. Gps is utilized on the SGBin for faster and easier location tracking. All the sensors are embedded with LoRa Shield as an End-Node and will transmit the data to the gateway for sending to network server via Wi-Fi and the data is interpreted by the application server. SGBin is integrated with TagoIO that enables real time monitoring system to gain insight for the bin condition by using laptop or smartphone. LoRa technology is used in this project because it has the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) minimum of -120 dBm until -30 dBm which shows that the signal is strong. Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) for LoRa is between -20dB and +10dB, the closer the value to +10dB means the received signal is less corrupted. Radio frequency band that is used in this project is constantly 920MHz which is a relatively low frequency that is in sub-GHz spectrum.
