Malaysia is one of the countries having the issue of solid waste which include the disposal of oil palm empty fruit bunch. Empty fruit bunch (EFB) is one of the biomass produced from the agricultural sector. The oil palm industries generate abundant amount of EFB nearly in millions of tons per year (Rozman et al. 2005) which leads to disposal problem. There are some methods used to minimize the amount of EFB such as burning and mulching. However, the methods had caused environmental effects. On the other hand, there are uncontrolled pest issues that affect human activities. The Subterranean termite is a serious economic timber pest causing millions of ringgit in damage. EFB contain high cellulose content which is a potential raw material for artificial bait. According to the present study, EFB has the potential to enhance the palatability of termite bait due to its content, and mixed with active ingredient (Imidacloprid) for structural pest control. In the study, Imidacloprid is added into aqueous glucose solutions. Glucose acts as a phagostimulant in enhancing mortality to toxicants. The main objective of the study is to study the effectiveness of mixture of glucose with Imidacloprid to enhance the palatability of termite bait. The experiment carry out is to determine the optimum concentration of glucose to be used in empty fruit bunch. A laboratory and in-situ experiments are conducted in this study. For in-situ experiment, the samples are placed at a site infected by termites. 5%, 10%, 20%, 30% and control concentration of glucose mixed with 0.005% Imidacloprid were tested in the experiment. Soaking method is applied for EFB fiber into the solution and oven-dried in 100°C for an hour. As a result, there was successfully result shown for the experiments. Laboratory experiment is where a numbers of termites are placed into the sample. The result showed that 30% glucose was found to be the optimum concentration to be mixed with Imidacloprid in EFB artificial bait to control structural pest. In conclusion, the addition of glucose in Imidacloprid is suitable to increase the effectiveness of termite baiting system
