Primavera project planner and Microsoft project in handling cost planning, a case study at Terengganu Indoor Stadium / Mohd Mokhzaini bin Mokhtar

Planning before construction undertakes is considered as a must nowadays due to the fact that many mishaps could be avoided especially delays in project handover. This study focused on cost planning regarding manpower resources. In Malaysia, the labour pricing are highly various for different location and not as averaging as its counterpart. With the advent of technology, planning tools like Microsoft Project and Primavera Project Planner - which the paper use is highly dependable in assisting planning development. Base on several analyses done, it is found that cost planning requires several factors to be considered in their planning development. Such factors are like monetary factors, labour productivity, and general overhead, contingencies, and profit. As the paper found, Primavera is without doubt, very essential in dealing with complex project planning, whilst its counterpart, Microsoft Project is very user friendly thus suitable for normal to moderate project complexity. In the end, it is concluded that, it depends of the project weight itself in order to choose the suitable planning tools. Suggestion for future research is that, both machinery and material factor should be considered to enhance the paper end result. -Author
